What is Tungsten-copper alloy ?

Tungsten-copper alloy is an alloy composed of tungsten and copper. The copper content of commonly used alloys ranges from 10% to 50%. The alloy is made by powder metallurgy, which has good conductivity, thermal conductivity, high temperature strength and certain plasticity. At very high temperatures, such as over 3000 C, copper in the alloy is liquefied and evaporated, which absorbs a lot of heat and reduces the surface temperature of the material. So this kind of material is also called metal sweating material.

Because tungsten and copper are not compatible with each other, tungsten-copper alloys have low expansion, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high conductivity and thermal conductivity of tungsten, and are suitable for various mechanical processing. Tungsten-copper alloy can be produced and processed according to user's requirements. Tungsten-copper alloys are usually prepared by powder metallurgy process, which includes powder preparation, mixing, compaction, sintering and infiltration.

The properties of Tungsten-copper alloy rod:

Tungsten-copper is a composite material refined by hydrostatic pressing, high temperature sintering and copper infiltration, which takes advantage of the excellent metal properties of high purity tungsten powder and the plasticity and high conductivity of high purity copper powder. Good arc breaking performance, good conductivity and heat conduction, small thermal expansion, high temperature does not soften, high strength, high density, high hardness.

Performance and Application:

Tungsten-copper alloy has a wide range of applications, most of which are used in aerospace, aviation, electronics, power, metallurgy, machinery, sports equipment and other industries. Secondly, it is also used to manufacture high temperature components such as contacts of arc ablation resistant high voltage electrical switch, throat lining of rocket nozzle, tail rudder, etc. It is also used for electrodes, high temperature dies and other occasions requiring conductive and thermal conductivity and high temperature use.

Process description:

The technological process of preparing W-Cu alloy by powder metallurgy is powder-mixing-pressing-forming-sintering-infiltration-cold processing.
